Bowerman Track Club professional Grant Fisher joins DyeStat editor Doug Binder to catch up on his post-Olympic Games life and preview the Michigan Pro Ekiden on Wednesday, Nov. 17 at Stony Creek Metropark outside Detroit, Michigan. Fisher grew up 40 miles northwest of the race venue in Grand Blanc, where he rose to fame as a high school runner and won two Foot Locker Cross Country Championships and became the seventh high school boy to run a sub-four minute mile. Fisher went on to an illustrious college career at Stanford, where he was a three times a top-five finisher at the NCAA Cross Country Championships and twice the NCAA Outdoor champion in the 5,000 meters. In his second year as a pro for the Jerry Schumacher-led Bowerman Track Club, Fisher qualified for the Olympic Games in two events. He placed fifth in the 10,000 meters and then took ninth in the 5,000 meters in Tokyo. At Wednesday's ekiden, Fisher will team up with a BTC lineup that includes Olympians Woody Kincaid, Courtney Frerichs and Elise Cranny as well as Thomas Ratcliffe and Vanessa Fraser.
